Cognitive Capabilities:
Many students fail to perform well academically because it’s too difficult to coordinate the left side of the brain with the right side. If your child is creative and loves color, movement, rhythm, and music, then chances are the rights side of the brain is dominant!
This is fantastic news, except most schools judge a student’s performance and merit by the output of the left hemisphere of the brain instead of the right. The left side of the brain is responsible for bit-by-bit thinking, math, phonics, and logical reasoning. Unfortunately, this leaves the right-brain dominant child in the dust!

Visual Processing Skills
Visual processing is the most important skill your child has since most of what we take in is visual. Students who don’t perceive visual information correctly don’t perform well academically. This is because they “see” information in a way that is twisted, skewed, tilted, or “wrong”. Reading, writing, math, and spelling are difficult because letters and numbers are moving, slanted, upside down, or fuzzy.
Your child doesn’t just see with the eyes. Your child takes in light with the eyes, but the real “seeing” is done in the brain. This light/brain coordination can be strengthened so perceptual skills can be strong. When “seeing” correctly, your child has a better chance of making academic excellence.
Memory Building Abilities
Children who struggle academically are usually weak in both visual and auditory memory skills. Although memory skills have nothing to do with intelligence, kids who struggle in this area often don’t feel as smart as their peers because they are unable to pass tests. This leads to poor academic performance and report cards.
It is important that school children have at least six-digit memory span for success. This insures that multi-syllable words can be mastered, difficult words are spelled correctly, sentences and paragraphs are written with ease, and math formulas and facts are learned and retained.
By starting with basic two- and three- digit visual and auditory memory span exercises, Bravo! Tutoring slowly builds up to four-digit then five- and six-digit memory span. After that, information isn’t just stored in the brain, it’s manipulated with sharp correctness.
Homework can then be done independently, tests are passed, and information is recalled with precision and ease.
Auditory Processing Skills
Children who don’t process auditory information correctly cannot thrive in the modern classroom with its lecture format. Years ago, young learners spent time “doing” and “watching”. Unfortunately, most learning today takes place with a “listening” format.
